// overview

At Red Hat, I operated as a full-stack learning experience designer — spanning UX, instructional design, mobile development, and video production. I designed and built a cross-platform mobile learning application using Cordova for Red Hat University, serving learning materials including video, PDF, courseware, and audio — with full offline credit support.

Beyond the mobile app, I designed a custom PHP project tracking tool for the team and designed and produced a company-wide video in After Effects for quarterly employee recognition — a role that demanded as much visual storytelling as it did UX rigor.

WHO
Red Hat — a global open-source enterprise software leader (now part of IBM). Red Hat University is their internal training division, delivering technical learning to developers and IT professionals worldwide.
CHALLENGE
Create a cohesive enterprise learning experience across platforms — including a mobile app for offline courseware delivery — while maintaining the instructional rigor and visual quality expected of a global tech brand.
SOLUTION
A Cordova-based cross-platform mobile app, iterative instructional design grounded in adult learning principles, a custom internal tracking tool, and motion-design video production — all under one cohesive Red Hat brand experience.

CROSS-PLATFORM APP FOR RED HAT UNIVERSITY

Building an enterprise mobile learning platform in 2014 was a complex undertaking that required careful planning, phased development, and a commitment to ongoing improvement. The app needed to serve rich content — video, PDF, courseware, and audio — across devices, while supporting offline credit for learners without reliable connectivity.

Staying flexible and responsive to both user needs and rapid technological change was critical to the platform's success. Every design decision was driven by real learner behavior and the constraints of enterprise mobile deployment.

TECHNOLOGIES USED
Adobe Suite · Cordova · jQuery · jQuery Mobile · Themeroller

Designing and building the Red Hat University mobile app in 2014 meant solving problems that enterprise mobile UX had barely begun to define.

EXPERIENCE DESIGN

ANALYSIS, DESIGN, DEPLOYMENT AND ITERATION

01
LEARNING ANALYSIS
Consulted with subject matter experts, instructors, and stakeholders to gain deep insight into the content, context, and learner needs before any design began.
02
DESIGNING & PLANNING
Defined structured learning paths — outlining the sequence of topics and activities to guide learners from foundational concepts through applied skills.
03
ENSURING ENGAGEMENT
Designed materials that are interactive and aligned with adult learning principles — prioritizing active recall, scenario-based learning, and clear cognitive progression.
04
DEPLOYMENT & LMS INTEGRATION
Deployed learning materials to target audiences through the appropriate delivery methods — e-learning platform, mobile app, and instructor-led sessions — ensuring smooth LMS integration throughout.
05
FEEDBACK & IMPROVEMENT
Evaluated learner results and gathered ongoing feedback to make iterative improvements to the learning experience — treating the curriculum as a living product, not a finished artifact.
